Tender Opportunity – Installation of Variable Speed Vacuum Pump System to the Vacuum Furnace

MJ Sections is investing in in a modern variable speed vacuum pump system to the vacuum furnace to reduce energy consumption, operating costs and maintenance burden across the site. This would include the replacement of the current ageing system and would result in the reduction of consumption particularly during idle periods.

An initial review of available solutions has identified the following equipment types as suitable benchmarks; however, alternative equipment will be considered where it can demonstrate performance equivalent to or exceeding the capability of the referenced items.

The proposed scope currently comprises:

• Rotary Vane Vacuum Pump – requires; 2-4 kW power consumption, 3-phase pump. IE3 efficiency rating or above, oil mist separator capabilities, low noise level, anti-vibration feet, nominal displacement of over 330 m³/hr, vacuum level of 0.1 mbar(a)
• Roots Booster Vacuum Pump – requires; 3-phases, IE4 efficienmcy or above, active air cooling, low noise lelvel, nominal displacement of 520 m³/hr or above
• High lecel electrical control and monitoring system
